Our milestones

1990–1995: the foundation years

Founded in 1990 with just 10 manual lathes and two small workshops, Glob-el began as a local manufacturer driven by craftsmanship and ambition. By 1992, the company had mastered assembly technologies for audio, video, and communication components, officially entering the connector industry. In 1995, exports exceeded USD 5 million — a major breakthrough that marked the company’s first transformation and growth beyond domestic borders.

1996–2001: global expansion and partnerships

In 1996, Glob-el established international cooperation with IKEA, customising sockets and adapters for various markets – a defining moment that introduced the company to global standards. The late 1990s brought specialisation in electrical products, ISO 9001 certification, and focused R&D in European-style wall sockets. These efforts laid a solid foundation for international market entry and technology leadership in plastic molding and precision engineering.

2002–2009: innovation and market leadership

Glob-el entered a phase of strong internationalisation. In 2002, it acquired Wolfram AS and Stromen AS in Norway and achieved ISO 14001 certification. The company’s modular blue box, launched in 2005, became a best-seller in Norway. By 2007, the company was listed on the Oslo SME board, and in 2008, it launched the 16A Series P switches and sockets, breaking market monopolies and reinforcing its position as a trusted European electrical solutions provider.

2010–2020: technology breakthroughs and global recognition

This decade marked a leap in innovation. Glob-el introduced screw-free quick-connect terminals, developed one of the first USB 2.4A chargers, and entered the LED lighting field with pioneering dimming and heat-dissipation technologies. Between 2016–2018, the company replicated its Nordic expertise to expand into the Finnish market. In 2019, Glob-el Lithuania was established, enabling 3–5 day local delivery across Europe.

2020–present: sustainability and strategic transformation

Since 2020, Glob-el has focused on sustainable, customer-driven innovation. The company introduced Swiss IP55 waterproof sockets and achieved major sustainability milestones, including ISO 45001, ISO 14067, ISO 14064, and ISO 50001 certifications. A new business strategy launched in 2024 strengthened Glob-el’s position as an independent ODM manufacturer, integrating European quality standards with advanced production in China and Lithuania. In 2025, Glob-el continues to lead with responsibility, innovation, and vision, empowering customers worldwide.
